 Orientation Peer Adviser Campaign

What the process was

When I was the graphics assistant for the JMU Orientation Department, my time there gave me the unique opportunity to work with professionals at my university who are targeting my peers and myself. With this inside look, I was able to help the department by offering my opinions on how to attract students to become a part of the Orientation Department.

For this campaign, another student employee and I believed the best way to target other JMU students who were interested in applying to be an Orientation Peer Advisor (OPA) was to humanize the position and show any student could be an OPA. We wanted to show that it is not a cookie-cutter job where only certain types of students can succeed. The purpose of the campaign was to recruit students to be a member of the O-Team.

I designed flyers, social media graphics, and digital screens to promote the position all over campus. With the idea to humanize past OPAs the department gathers information about them, such as their major, hobbies, and fun facts. From the information gathered I picked out key information to showcase the variety of skills and hobbies past OPAs had. I drew the icons on Adobe Illustrator and used Canva to format the graphics.
